When I gaze upon the Buddha, I think
May all living beings
Become upright and majestic,
Like Samantabhadra Bodhisattva.
-
When I see a stupa, I think
May all living beings
Be as respected as a stupa,
And worthy of the offerings of gods and people.
-
When I awake from sleep, I reflect
May all living beings
Awaken to omniscience,
With vision that spans the Ten Directions.
-
When I see a broad river, I reflect
May all living beings
Enter the stream of Dharma
That flows to the Buddha's ocean of wisdom.
-
When I see blooming flowers, I reflect
May all living beings
Experience spiritual powers and the like,
As abundant as flowers in bloom.
-
When I see a blossoming tree, I reflect
May all living beings
Appear with the splendor of flowers,
Replete with the thirty-two hallmarks.
-
When I see high mountains, I reflect
May all living beings
Have transcendent good roots
Like a summit that no one can surpass.
-
When I see a tranquil forest, I reflect
May all living beings
Leave behind forever all greed and longing,
And experience no grief and terror.
-
When I see flowing water, I reflect
May all living beings
Aspire to wholesomeness,
And wash off the filth of delusion.
-
When I see a thorny bush, I reflect
May all living beings
Quickly cut away and eradicate
The thorns of the three poisons.
-
When I see a bridge-crossing, I reflect
May all living beings
Carry all across to freedom.
Just the way a bridge does.
